A cut to national insurance — a levy paid by people who work — costing around £10 billion ($12.7 billion) is likely, according to multiple UK media reports. But soaring government debt, crumbling public services and a lackluster economy leave the chancellor with very little room for further substantial giveaways. Christopher Furlong/Getty ImagesOther so-called “unprotected” areas of the national budget, such as social care and the police force, are also at risk. “That seems unlikely when public services are creaking,” they added. OBR chair Richard Hughes said in January that the government had provided no detailed breakdown of departmental spending plans beyond March next year, giving only headline figures.

Before he exited the race, DeSantis and his allies similarly warned that Nevada Republicans had stacked the deck there in Trump’s favor. As the 2024 presidential campaign heats up, experts on extremism fear the threat of politically motivated violence will intensify. Trump's loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election did not end the spread of QAnon-influenced conspiracy theories or its unrealized prophecies. “In 2020, millions of people were radicalized on behalf of this conspiracy theory. It’s really hard to tell who is going to mobilize on behalf of a conspiracy theory,” Kane said. “Spending hours and hours consuming conspiracy theory material is intoxicating,” Hughes said.

NEW YORK (AP) — The National 4-H Council is growing in a new direction – online – by launching its e-learning platform Clover with a collaboration with Netflix and its new movie “Spy Kids: Armageddon,” the organization announced Wednesday. The innovation, Bramble says, comes in the way the Clover platform engages with the students by using gamification and entertainment, which led to the collaboration with Netflix. “When you think of the intent behind ‘Spy Kids,’ those kids are tackling some of the world’s most pressing issues and they’re doing this through coding and gamification. “We feel that Clover can support a way to catch up, but it can’t do it alone. It’s so valuable to have an in-person program that goes along with it -- the mentoring aspect that comes with 4-H.

Partners in risk The total area at high risk for bat viruses to infect humans more than doubled in size in Laos between 2002 and 2020. The animals, known to be susceptible to bat viruses, included raccoon dogs, bamboo rats and porcupines. Who qualifies for charitable tax deductionsEvery taxpayer has a choice between itemizing their deductions and claiming the standard deduction. Note that for tax years 2020 and 2021, the IRS let people claim a $300 charitable deduction even if they didn’t itemize, but that allowance has expiredWhat kind of giving qualifies for the charitable tax deductionContributions to officially registered charities, which are designated with a special tax code like 501(c) (3), may be deductible on your federal tax return (and possibly your state tax return).
